Catholics, on the other hand, simply say a person is mistaken when he disagrees with the history of Christian doctrine, passed down in an unbroken chain from the apostles and safeguarded by the Church. Certain teachings were received from Jesus, and they are true. What the biblical arguments supporting them may be is another issue. But they are true because Jesus passed them down, and Christians believed them (and were justified in doing so) even before biblical arguments could be produced.
